The Savannah Networks main purpose however, is not to compete against existing blockchain networks, but to use this technology in order to empower and emancipate the productivity in developing nations. The largest challenge we face in the developing world is poverty. And although blockchain systems offer many benefits and only require a smartphone and an internet connection, the majority populations in less economically developed countries have access to neither. In Kenya mobile phone penetration is 80% however proper smartphone penetration is less than 30%, thus begging the question of how blockchain can enable economic empowerment when 70% of the adult population have absolutely no means in which to access it. This is why we have engineered a revolutionary piece of technology called the Dhow. The Dhow, a traditional sailing boat that connected east africa to the world has found its second birth.
